Explaining Cold Pressed Juices
During the early morning routine, in my usual rush, I stood on my tippy toes and grabbed for my juicer and the parts came tumbling down. I caught most, but broke one integral part. So now I have a decision to make. Do I go the cheapest route and just purchase the damaged part? Or do I investigate buying another juicer? Without the use of my current one, I’ve been stocking up on the pricey, organic vegetable cold-pressed juices. My understanding is that using a cold-pressed masticating machine packs in more nutrients than my home centrifugal juicer. They also have a longer shelf life, so I could juice and store in the refrigerator for a week rather than just 24 hours.

U.S. Dietary Guidelines Proposal Complete
The committee that oversees the U.S. Dietary Guidelines sent their proposal to the U.S. Department of Agriculture to review. It includes information expected such as decreasing sugar and saturated fat intake. However, for the first time, the committee notes the importance of sustainability; foods better for the environment such as plant-based fruits/vegetables are more beneficial (higher nutrient value, lower calories) for the country. In addition, the committee mentioned that cholesterol isn’t such a big health issue. Individuals are encouraged to submit written comments to the government on the advisory report by April 8, 2015.

I met Kate Crawford from TheChroniclesofCancer.com this weekend at a Kids II PinkPowerMom award ceremony. She’s a dynamo, exuding life, love and such passion to help others. She created her own Mommy Bucket List after being diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer. Her piece on Motherhood struck a cord with me and think it will with many others.
